Each week across Sydney a diverse range of live music is on offer for all to see. In my time working for the Sydney Music Podcast, however, I have occasionally noticed that one genre will largely dominate the live music landscape for a week or two and then everything will balance out again.

This Thursday night, get yourself down to a free rock show at the Lansdowne Hotel with Seven Steady and Tainted Toys among others. Kicks off at 9pm.

For reasons beyond me, there are still some tickets to see Brand New (pictured) at the Enmore Theatre this Thursday night as well. This five-piece from New York really packs a punch on their records, and I'm super excited to be seeing them live myself. Tickets to the rest of their Aussie gigs have all sold out... Hit up Ticketek for the rest.

Jack White's "other" super group The Dead Weather also bring their musical stylings to the Enmore on Friday night.

Band name of the week has to go to Vegan Mosquitos (LOLZ!). You can make up your own mind about them... "Eccentric", "kooky" and "masochistic" are all fitting words for their description.
